Softies was a puppet series which consisted of five minute episodes which would air on Milkshake from October 10, 2003. It followed three ‘Softies’, Cuddle (Hollie Chapman), Cosy (Liam Hess) and Comfy (Sadie Wilson) who live at the bottom of a garden. In every episode, they go up their garden path to the potting shed to see what ‘interesting item’ is there that day.
I remember liking it when I was younger, though (as predicted) it feels incredible weird watching it now. There are far too many bright colours in it for my liking, though the puppets (by Hands Up! Puppets) are constructed very well and look quite nice, they remind me of Channel 4’s The Hoobs (which I do prefer to this). The episodes, since they are only 5 minutes long, are quite simple and have the same formula. There were 80 episodes, which I can’t imagine that it would have been that difficult to write for.
Other than that, there aren’t many things to say about it. Most, if not all, of the episodes are avaliable on Youtube. There were never any DVD or VHS releases.
